Sun-damaged skin

Rejuvenate sun damaged skin

What is Sun-damaged skin?

Let’s face it, we all love the sun and the positive effects it has on our mood and skin tone. Unfortunately, too much sun exposure can cause premature ageing of the skin and that, we love a bit less! This is called photo-ageing, and its unlike natural ageing.

This type of ageing happens when ultraviolet light causes damage to the DNA of your skin resulting in skin colour and texture changes. To see the difference between normal ageing and photo-ageing, have a look at an area of your body that is not exposed to the sun and compare it to the skin of your face.  In general, lighter skin is more susceptible to photo-ageing that darker skin as melanin is protective.

Certain medications such as a topical retinoid medication (like tretinoin) can be prescribed to even out your skin tone and address roughness and fine lines that result from photoaging.

Injectables such as Botox, is a great way to help smooth out wrinkles that you often get with sundamaged skin.

A chemical peel is a minimally invasive procedure that we offer at the SAL Clinic. It will help you to improve the overall appearance of your skin by penetrating the skin with a unique blend of salicylic acid, Glycolic and Lactic acid.  This will cause the dead skin cells to peel off, leaving the new skin looking smoother, brighter and more refined.

Dermabrasion removes dead epidermal cells, unearthing fresh vibrant tissue, stimulates the skin’s repair mechanism and leaves the skin smooth and clean. Blood, carrying oxygen and nutrients, is drawn to the surface of the skin improving delivery of these vital ingredients to maintain the skins condition.
